Job Summary

The Director of Supply Chain provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for end-to-end supply chain functions, including procurement, planning, inventory management, logistics, warehousing, and supplier performance. This role ensures the right materials are in the right place at the right time while optimizing cost, quality, delivery, and working capital to support company growth and operational excellence.

Location

Onsite role based in Winsted, MN. Will have accountabilities at both locations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, Manage, and Hold Team Accountable (LMA)

  • Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Planning & Inventory Management

  • Logistics & Distribution

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive supply chain strategy aligned with company growth objectives

  • Oversee Materials Functions including Procurement, Sourcing Strategy, Contract Negotiations, and Supplier Selection

  • Oversee Transportation, Warehousing, and Distribution operations

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service levels, reduce total landed cost, and improve inventory turns

  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure business continuity

  • Build strategic supplier partnerships focused on On-Time-Delivery, Quality, and Best Total Cost

  • Monitor Departmental KPI’s & Response Processes

  • Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and ethical standards

  • Optimize demand planning, forecasting accuracy, and inventory control processes

  • Establish inventory targets that support customer service while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory

  • Improve material flow and replenishment strategies across facilities

  • Manage freight strategies and carrier relationships to optimize service and cost

  • Ensure efficient warehouse layout, safety compliance, and operational effectiveness

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets

  • Drive data-based decision making using ERP and analytics tools

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Operations or equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

  • Proven experience in a leadership role overseeing supply chain functions, preference to leading within a Manufacturing organization.

  • Proven ability to dig into details, and build processes with a sense of urgency.

  • In-depth knowledge of ERP systems and data workflows.

  • Experience working with metal fabrication.

  • High level negotiating skills.

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop and execute operational strategies.

  • Excellent leadership and team management capabilities, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Experience in converting make parts to purchased, and leveraging outsourcing.

  • Capabilities in support of production needs.

  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement, operational efficiency, and implementing best practices.

  • Strong analytical and data-driven mindset, proficient in utilizing metrics to drive decision-making.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects and delivering high-quality results within budget and timeline constraints.

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and evolving environment, balancing multiple priorities effectively.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit/stand; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk short distances. On occasion, the employee may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. While on the production floor, all employees are required to wear company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE).
