Director of Student Services, LUMIN Schools

Position Overview

This position works cooperatively with leadership of the congregation that owns the school (if any), LUMIN's Board of Directors, school staff, parents and students to help the school accomplish its mission of nurturing and equipping all children in a strong Christian and academic environment to become lifelong learners, growing in faith, capable of making responsible decisions, and serving God and the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaboratively Design and Implement LUMIN’s Approach to Tier II Services
• Define and ensure the implementation of a LUMINwide Tier II MTSS system
• Serve as the lead for network partnerships, who provide services to our scholars
• Support vision, goals and key outcomes for networkwide implementation of LUMIN MTSS
• Implement, manage and maintain networkwide social and emotional learning education and resources
• Institute a system of interventions that can be amplified in response to levels of need
• Support school leaders in identifying a schoolwide approach to expectations and supports
• Develop Effective Practices
• Design and lead high-quality professional development sessions for participants
• Strategically work to retain and advance current and future leaders within the network through direct development and/or leveraging the support of others
• Provide On-the-Ground Support to Strengthen Outcomes for Students
• Collaborate with school leadership teams on their beginning-of-year culture and MTSS launch
• Build the capacity of school leaders to manage change at their school sites; this includes systems oversight, teacher skill building and data-driven action planning
• Design and deliver school trainings to teachers and leaders across the organization
• Maintain active involvement and administration of practices
• Attend and cofacilitate community meetings with families, staff and other stakeholders
• Coordinate aligned and responsive programming that provides access and opportunity to social-emotional learning, restorative, trauma-informed care, cultural responsive and proactive disciplinary practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required
• Experience working in an urban school environment, including general knowledge of issues facing at-risk youth, is desired
• Belief that all students can learn and their learning can be directly influenced by focusing on factors over which we have control
• Belief that student learning guides practice and decision-making throughout the school and system
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to establish a rapport with youth, parents and other staff, while maintaining appropriate boundaries
• Valid Wisconsin driver's license
• Eligible for a Wisconsin Director of Pupil Services administrative license preferred
• Graduate degree or license certification in educational leadership or related area preferred
• Previous administration experience preferred
• K-12 classroom teaching experience preferred

Working Conditions

• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, depending on work tasks
• Work will be performed in a school environment
• Willingness to travel between campuses in Milwaukee and Racine

Pay

$80,000 and up for years of experience, advanced degrees, with ability to make more as you grow.
