We develop baseball players from ages 13 through the professional level, combining elite strength & conditioning, throwing development, sports science, and athlete monitoring into one comprehensive system.

About the role

The Director of Strength & Conditioning will oversee every aspect of VeloU's strength and conditioning department. This individual will be responsible for designing and implementing individualized training programs, leading and developing the strength coaching staff, utilizing performance technology to drive programming decisions, and continually improving the systems that help our athletes perform at the highest level.

This position requires an exceptional coach, an outstanding leader, and someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. The Director of Strength & Conditioning will work closely with the Director of Player Development to continually improve our athlete development model and ensure every athlete receives world-class training.

Responsibilities

  • Athlete Programming
    • Design individualized strength and conditioning programs for baseball athletes ranging from 13 years old through the professional level.
    • Develop training systems appropriate for varying ages, training histories, movement capabilities, and competitive levels.
    • Continuously evaluate and adjust programming based on athlete progress, performance testing, workload, and recovery.
    • Build systems that maximize performance while minimizing injury risk.
  • Staff Leadership
    • Lead, mentor, and manage the entire strength and conditioning coaching staff.
    • Create a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous learning.
    • Establish coaching standards and ensure consistent delivery across every training session.
    • Conduct staff education, evaluations, and ongoing professional development.
    • Be the leader on the training floor, creating an energetic, organized, and athlete-focused environment.
  • Performance Technology & Data Analysis
    • Utilize performance technology, including force plates, ArmCare, velocity-based training systems, and other athlete monitoring tools to guide programming decisions.
    • Analyze athlete data to identify trends, strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Draw meaningful correlations between testing data, athlete performance, and programming effectiveness.
    • Continuously refine training methods using objective performance metrics.
  • Department Growth & Innovation
    • Work directly with the Director of Player Development to continue evolving VeloU's strength and conditioning department.
    • Develop new systems that improve efficiency, coaching quality, and athlete outcomes.
    • Stay current with emerging research, technology, and best practices in sports performance.
    • Help position VeloU as a leader in baseball performance training through innovation and excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Performance, or a related field
  • CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist) or equivalent certification
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of strength and conditioning coaching experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing coaching staff
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Passion for coaching, learning, and athlete development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with baseball athletes
  • Experience using force plates, athlete monitoring systems, ArmCare, velocity-based training, and other sports performance technology
  • Familiarity with long-term athlete development models
  • Experience designing systems and processes within a high-performance environment
