Director of Strategic Growth & Partnerships
About the Role
As the Director of Strategic Growth & Partnerships at Sigma Nursing, you will develop and execute the organization's non-dues revenue strategy, leading business development, Marketplace operations, sponsorships, strategic partnerships, and revenue-generating initiatives that support long-term growth and financial sustainability.
In this role, you will define the organization's revenue architecture—from lead qualification and sales processes to forecasting and pipeline management—while directing Marketplace, e-commerce, and business-to-business sales operations. You will also cultivate, negotiate, and steward sponsorships and strategic partnerships with corporate, academic, foundation, and industry organizations. You will provide strategic financial oversight for a $3.5 million+ non-dues revenue portfolio, ensuring disciplined management of sponsorships, partnerships, Marketplace operations, and B2B sales channels.
Working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams—including Marketing, Membership & Volunteer Engagement, Events, Publications, Learning & Development, and Finance—you will align revenue strategies with organizational priorities and expand strategic relationships and business opportunities. You will also lead, coach, and develop assigned Marketplace staff.
Success in this role means growing non-dues revenue through scalable business development strategies, high-performing Marketplace operations, strong sponsorship and partnership portfolios, and disciplined financial management. These efforts will strengthen Sigma's financial sustainability, expand opportunities to serve members and stakeholders, and advance the organization's mission through innovative partnerships and revenue streams.

A Week in the Life
A typical week often begins with reviewing Marketplace analytics, sales performance, and revenue dashboards. You check progress against annual goals, flag areas needing adjustment in forecasting, pricing, or lead generation, and set priorities for the week.
Your calendar includes internal and external meetings: cross-functional check-ins with Marketing, Membership & Volunteer Engagement, Events, Publications, Learning & Development, and Finance to align revenue initiatives with organizational priorities, followed by calls with prospective corporate partners to discuss sponsorship options and negotiate terms.
You dedicate time to partnerships and Marketplace operations, connecting with corporate, academic, foundation, and industry contacts to cultivate new sponsorships, negotiate terms, and steward existing relationships. On the operational side, you review fulfillment, inventory management, vendor relationships, and contract administration to ensure smooth Marketplace and B2B sales operations.
You analyze CRM data and customer insights to identify opportunities for improving acquisition, retention, and lifetime value, and check in with Marketplace staff to provide coaching, remove roadblocks, and reinforce shared goals.
Collaboration with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and margin management for the non-dues revenue portfolio is a regular part of your week, as is preparing revenue forecasts and business performance updates for executive leadership or the Board of Directors.
By week’s end, you review wins and open threads—a sponsorship agreement nearing signature, a Marketplace metric to monitor, or a staff member ready for more responsibility. You may close the week by representing Sigma at an external event or industry conversation, expanding the organization’s visibility, influence, and long-term financial sustainability.
