Director of Growth & Strategic Partnerships
About Wholeview
Wholeview is a premier outpatient addiction treatment program providing evidence-based, person-centered care for individuals with substance use disorders. Headquartered in Midtown Manhattan, Wholeview combines exceptional clinical care with innovative programming, technology, and outstanding patient outcomes. Our multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, addiction counselors, and care coordinators committed to transforming addiction treatment through compassion, science, and clinical excellence.
We are on a mission to provide innovative, quality, and accessible care to those that need it most. As Wholeview expands throughout New York State, we are seeking an entrepreneurial, relationship-driven leader to drive strategic growth, expand referral partnerships, develop innovative healthcare collaborations, and increase access to high-quality addiction treatment.
About the Role
The Director of Growth & Strategic Partnerships is Wholeview's primary external ambassador and the architect of our referral growth engine. This person builds genuine, lasting trust with physicians, hospitals, treatment providers, and community partners across New York State, and brings enough operational discipline to turn that trust into a reliable, visible pipeline.
This highly visible leadership position serves as Wholeview's primary external ambassador, building lasting relationships with healthcare providers, hospitals, behavioral health organizations, employers, health plans, and community partners. Working closely with the Chief of Staff and Executive Leadership Team, the Director will implement innovative strategies that increase patient census, support value-based care initiatives, strengthen Wholeview's market presence, and drive the organization's long-term growth. While in a leadership position, this role is expected to take a boots-on-the-ground and no-task-too-small approach as they begin in the role and slowly build up the function.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, exceptional relationship builder, and results-oriented leader who is humble and passionate about expanding access to evidence-based behavioral healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Build and Run the Referral Pipeline
- Develop and execute Wholeview's annual business development plan, with clear quarterly and monthly targets.
- Identify, prioritize, and cultivate new referral relationships across New York State, taking both a boots-on-the-ground approach to drive activity and analyzing said activity and outcomes to spot where the next opportunities are.
- Maintain a consistent outreach cadence across priority accounts and know exactly where every relationship stands.
- Keep CRM data accurate and current. Prepare regular pipeline reports and dashboards, and use the data to guide where you spend your time, not just to document where you've been.
- Build Strategic Partnerships
- Develop and sustain relationships across the full referral ecosystem: hospitals and health systems, emergency departments, detox and residential providers, outpatient behavioral health programs, FQHCs, physician and specialty practices (including hepatology, nephrology, and pain management), EAPs, recovery residences, and recovery coaches.
- Work with Executive Leadership to identify and pursue new partnership models, including payer relationships, value-based care collaborations, and connections with ACOs, CINs, and other population health organizations, as Wholeview's geographic footprint grows.
- Be the Face of Wholeview
- Conduct regular in-person visits with referral partners and become a known, trusted presence in the community.
- Deliver clear, credible presentations on Wholeview's clinical model, patient fit, and outcomes, tailored to your audience.
- Coordinate facility tours for referral partners and serve as a go-to resource for patients and families navigating access to care.
- Represent Wholeview at conferences, networking events, and healthcare associations, and increase our visibility and reputation across the healthcare and behavioral health community.
- Partner with leadership on outreach materials, educational events, and marketing efforts that communicate Wholeview's value proposition clearly to the field.
- Grow the Wholeview Brand
- Increase statewide awareness of the Wholeview brand and partner with leadership on marketing campaigns, educational events, and continuing education programs that reach referral sources directly.
- Develop outreach materials and referral resources that clearly communicate Wholeview's value proposition to physicians, discharge planners, and community partners.
- Identify new ways to raise Wholeview's visibility and credibility across the healthcare and recovery communities, treating brand-building as a direct input into referral growth, not a separate marketing function.
- Close the Loop Internally
- Work closely with Intake and Clinical Operations to ensure smooth, fast transitions from referral to admission.
- Provide regular reporting on pipeline activity, partnership development, and key performance indicators to the Chief of Staff and Executive Leadership.
Requirements
- Five or more years of progressive experience in business development, sales, physician relations, or strategic partnerships. Healthcare experience is a strong plus but not required.
- A demonstrated track record of building relationships that convert into measurable results.
- Outstanding relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.
- Real comfort with CRM tools and pipeline discipline. You don't need hand-holding to stay organized.
- A genuine connection to mission-driven work and the ability to speak credibly about it.
- Valid New York State driver's license and the ability to travel extensively throughout the state.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in addiction treatment, behavioral health, or another clinical or human services field.
- Existing relationships within New York's healthcare or behavioral health community.
- Personal or family connection to the recovery community. This is valued, not required.
- Familiarity with Medicaid Managed Care, value-based care, or provider network development.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior team members, with the ability to scale a team as the function grows.
Performance Expectations
- Referral growth: Month-over-month growth in active, qualified referral relationships.
- Census impact: Patient admissions sourced through your pipeline, tracked against quarterly targets.
- Partnership development: New strategic partnerships established per quarter (health systems, payers, value-based care, or community organizations).
- Pipeline discipline: CRM data accuracy and on-time submission of weekly pipeline reports and monthly dashboards.
- Referral source retention: Consistency of touch cadence and partner satisfaction across your priority accounts.
- Brand visibility: Tangible outreach activity, such as presentations delivered, events attended, and materials distributed, tied back to referral outcomes.
