About the role

The Director of Strategic Communications and Content for the ASUN and United Athletic Conference will lead the development and execution of comprehensive communications and content strategies to elevate the profile of both conferences. This role involves managing media relations, digital content creation, social media engagement, and branding initiatives to enhance visibility and fan engagement across all platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic communications plans to promote the ASUN and United Athletic Conference, including media relations, digital content, and social media strategies.
  • Serve as the primary media contact for the conferences, managing press releases, media inquiries, and interview requests.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of engaging digital content, including videos, graphics, articles, and social media posts.
  • Collaborate with member institutions, coaches, student-athletes, and partners to amplify conference initiatives and storytelling.
  • Manage the conferences’ official websites, ensuring timely and accurate updates on news, scores, standings, and events.
  • Coordinate with broadcast partners to maximize exposure for conference championships and events.
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage and digital engagement metrics to assess the effectiveness of communications strategies.
  • Represent the conferences at meetings, events, and media opportunities as needed.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of communications and content professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic communications, media relations, or digital content creation, preferably in intercollegiate athletics or sports media.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience crafting press releases, media pitches, and digital content.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms, content management systems, and digital analytics tools.
  • Experience managing a team and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, as well as intercollegiate athletics landscape.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel and work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.
