Director of Athletic Communications
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Athletic Communications to lead and manage all communication efforts for our athletic department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sports communications, media relations, and strategic messaging to enhance the visibility and reputation of our athletic programs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies for the athletic department.
- Serve as the primary media contact and spokesperson for athletic events and initiatives.
- Manage all press releases, media guides, social media content, and promotional materials.
- Coordinate interviews, press conferences, and media appearances for coaches and student-athletes.
- Collaborate with coaches, staff, and administration to ensure consistent messaging.
- Oversee the athletic department’s digital presence, including website content and social media channels.
- Monitor media coverage and provide regular reports on communication effectiveness.
- Lead and mentor the athletic communications team to achieve departmental goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, or a related field required.
- Minimum of five years of experience in athletic communications, sports information, or a related field, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of athletic communications, media relations, digital content creation, and social media platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with content management systems and other communication tools.
- Active member of a local church with a commitment to Oklahoma Christian University's mission and Christian values.
