About the role
The Director of Sterile Processing oversees department operations at the SGMC Health Main and Smith Northview campuses. Key responsibilities include:
Responsibilities
- Ensuring timely and efficient decontamination, sterilization, assembly, and distribution of surgical instruments and supplies.
- Maintaining regulatory compliance and promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
- Leading quality initiatives and managing budgets.
- Developing staff competencies to support high-quality patient care and organizational goals.
- Collaborating with other hospital departments to optimize sterilization processes and maintain readiness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, Nursing, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) required.
- Additional certifications (CIS, CER, CHL, or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years of documented progressive leadership experience with sterilization processes and high-level disinfection in a procedural or perioperative services setting.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of AAMI and AORN standards, sterilization methods, and instrument processing workflows. Proven ability to lead large teams in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and change management skills. Proficiency with instrument tracking software and data analytics.
