Director of Sterile Processing
About the role
The Director of Sterile Processing for St. David's Medical Center is a leadership position that requires a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Biology, or Business. Central Sterile Certification is required upon hire.
Responsibilities
- Proactively keep the AVP of Surgical Services apprised of any deviations from budget or prior year and/or opportunities to exceed operational and financial expectations.
- Provide reports on expenses and revenue by service line and payer mix as well as equipment and instrument spend for all departments under Surgical Services.
- Understand the process of scheduling and ensure CPT codes are used appropriately.
- Work closely with Supply Chain to ensure charge codes are set up properly.
- Serve as a liaison between the department of surgery and clinical departments, physicians, and vendors.
- Maintain positive relationships with Surgical Services staff and help facilitate their needs.
- Organize necessary information regarding changes in the Surgical Services department, including new contracts and equipment.
- Ensure the highest possible surgeon satisfaction by ongoing communication.
- Absolutely ensure all vendors entering the surgical services department are appropriately credentialed.
- Demonstrate an effective working knowledge of equipment used in the work area.
- Demonstrate effective guest relations with internal and external customers.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Meditech and general computer skills.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patient information.
- Show an understanding of safety initiatives through strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Work autonomously and make independent decisions of a complex nature.
- Participate in preparing and administering the department budget.
- Demonstrate effective record-keeping.
- Maintain corporate ethics and compliance expectations.
- Be capable of performing without direct supervision.
- Monitor contracts and ensure contract compliance.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Biology, or Business.
- Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician (CSPD).
- BLS Certification.

Pay
The salary range for this position is determined by experience and education.
Schedule
The Director of Sterile Processing works various hours to ensure the effective operation of the unit.
Skills
Effective working knowledge of equipment used in the work area, effective guest relations, knowledge of Meditech and general computer skills, confidentiality regarding patient information, understanding of safety initiatives, ability to work autonomously, decision-making skills, record-keeping, and adherence to corporate ethics and compliance expectations.
