About the role

The Director of Special Events will support the Club's growing event business while preparing to assume full leadership responsibilities for the department as part of a planned succession strategy. This position will work closely alongside the current Director of Special Events, who will retire following the 2026 season after more than 40 years of distinguished service to the Club.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to grow the Club’s event business
  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of special events, including weddings, corporate functions, and social gatherings
  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of events, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef and other culinary teams to ensure food and beverage offerings align with event themes and guest preferences
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to promote events through various channels
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to events
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members, vendors, and partners to enhance the Club’s reputation and attract new business
  • Prepare for and lead the transition to the new Director of Special Events, ensuring a smooth handover of responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, event management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in event planning and management, preferably within a private club setting
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience with budget management and financial reporting
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale events
  • Experience with event technology and software
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to events
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pay

  • $120,000 - $150,000 annually
