About the role
The Director of Special Education provides leadership and coordination for Intermediate Unit 1 (IU1) special education programs serving students ages 3–22. This position acts as a liaison to the Pennsylvania Department of Education, member school districts, parents/families, and community agencies, ensuring regulatory compliance for Early Intervention and School-Age Special Education Programs and that students with disabilities receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education.
Requirements
- Minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience
- PDE Supervisory/Principal Certification
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal special education laws and compliance issues pertaining to Early Intervention and School-Age Programs

Pay
Salary range starts at $103,868.
