About the position

VHB is looking for a Director of Site Investigation & Remediation (SI&R) to lead our growing SI&R practice in New Jersey. This people-focused and market-connected leader will leverage established market connections and VHB’s talented business development team and professional service lines to successfully pursue and win business opportunities with new and existing clients throughout New Jersey.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages the success of SI&R revenue growth in New Jersey
  • Engages and leads technical proposal teams or a major component of a proposal team
  • Develops and manages employee staffing, recruitment, selection, and training plans
  • Manages, plans, develops, organizes, and implements environmental investigation and remediation projects
  • Oversees and manages staff utilization and project profitability and collections
  • Explores subject area, defines scope, selects areas for investigation, and develops novel concepts
  • Determines client requirements and develops plans, specifications, drawings, instructions, cost estimates, reports, bid packages, and related documents
  • Ensures each project complies with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
  • Acts as technical liaison within and outside VHB with responsibility to act independently regarding technical matters on environmental projects
  • Represents VHB at meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish needs and discuss design/permitting issues
  • Carrries out supervisory responsibilities, including planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating and coaching team member performance; promoting and monitoring quality assurance of services and deliverables; and coaching and mentoring
  • Participates in professional and personal development aligned with career goals

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong understanding of applicable New Jersey regulatory requirements
  • Strong business development skills with an established network of clients and potential clients
  • Demonstrated experience working as a trusted advisor to clients
  • Extensive experience managing and performing preliminary assessments, site investigations, remedial investigations and remedial actions in New Jersey, including urban environments
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Willingness to mentor junior staff and work in a team-based atmosphere
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, partner, influence, consult, and collaborate with all levels within the organization

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or Engineering. Master’s Degree preferred
  • Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) licensure preferred
  • 15+ years of environmental remediation experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications required

Pay

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New Jersey is $175,000-250,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
