Director of Security

About the Role

The Director of Security develops and directs Eagleville Hospital’s Security Program, providing an ongoing assessment of its effectiveness. This role determines areas of risk, provides safety and security training to staff, and contracts staff as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Safety/Security Program.
• Determine and mitigate areas of risk on campus.
• Instruct staff in search methods and protocols.
• Provide training for new hires.
• Make recommendations to supervisors or the administrative team to improve safety and security on campus.
• Assist in the placement, implementation, administration, and training of automated security systems.
• Maintain records for automated systems and utilize them as management tools.
• Develop and write new security-related policies and procedures, and conduct annual reviews and updates of all security-related policies.
• Protect and safeguard hospital, client, staff belongings, and property.
• Continuously seek improvements in the safety/security program and methods.
• Ensure safety and security by maintaining security logs, monitoring alarms, and overseeing security personnel.
• Provide support and assistance to the nursing supervisor on scheduled shifts.
• Assist with the management of patient disturbances.
• Work closely with the Director of Operations to create disaster and/or crisis preparedness plans.
• Assist police officers when they are called to campus.
• Oversee parole officers’ removal of patients for violations.
• Provide assistance to help staff improve performance and request replacement staff if performance is problematic.
• Manage the schedule of security staff, ensuring coverage for PTO days and sick calls.
• Complete incident reports for safety and security-related incidents.
• Provide expertise in all campus, staff, and patient concerns related to safety and security.
• Maintain order within the facility and enforce hospital rules and regulations.
• Conduct security patrols throughout the campus.
• Demonstrate proficiency in video surveillance and reviewing recorded tapes when required.
• Use radio or telephone communication to contact police, fire, or emergency agencies as needed.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the use of the ECS radio system and telephone communication.
• Assist with follow-up investigations of safety/security incidents as requested.
• Perform periodic and random security inspections and prepare security reports as necessary.
