About the role
We are seeking an experienced Director of Security to oversee and manage all aspects of physical security, surveillance, and regulatory compliance across our vertically integrated cannabis operations. Provide direct support, oversight, and coordination of the security team ensuring the implementation of the company’s security procedures and operational plans.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the site grounds, facility, visitors, vendors, and staff.
- Operate and monitor the site’s video surveillance system, access control system, and perimeter security system ensuring its functionality and compliance.
- Ensure adherence to all industry standards set forth by Local, State, and Federal regulation.
- Remain vigilant in identifying and resolving problems such as unauthorized personnel, alarms indicating fire, or any other potential safety hazards to company employees or visitors.
- Develop and implement facility evacuation plans in case of emergency.
- Develop and implement procedures to ensure that the retail location, all exterior entrances/exits, parking lots, and perimeter fences remain secure at all times.
- Conduct regular walk-throughs and security inspections for assigned facilities.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of new security monitoring product development and its implementation within the licensed cannabis industry.
- Act as liaison with DOH on violations of regulatory compliance as necessary.
- Provide training on security policies and procedures.
- Work with confidential and classified information.
Requirements
- Minimum of a High School Diploma with at least 4 years of honorable Law Enforcement background.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered, including internal experience.
- Experience in Security and Loss prevention will be taken into consideration.
- Extensive knowledge of security protocol and procedures.
- Proficiency in First Aid and the use of AED equipment to render aid in an emergency situation.
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Solid understanding of the Medical Marijuana laws, rules, and regulations set forth by the state and the D.O.A.
- Certification or training in Senior Security Management (recommended but not required).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
- Minimum of 21 years of age.
- Must pass any and all required background checks.
- Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
Physical Demands
- Regular exposure to outdoor elements and seasonal weather conditions.
- Regularly required to perform grasping, talking, walking, gripping, hearing, seeing, standing, sitting, bending, twisting, and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 40 pounds (100 pounds with assistance).
- Must be able to tolerate dusty, strong-smelling marijuana odors, and exposure to the product.
