About the role
The Director of Sales (DOS), Direct, Surgical Solutions is responsible for achieving sales goals and marketing objectives for the Ultrasonic Portfolio. This role manages a direct sales team of Territory Managers (TM) and Associate Territory Managers (ATM), shaping and directing business plans aligned with Surgical goals and strategies. The DOS ensures direct sales revenue, growth, commercial execution, and customer satisfaction while developing market share and assessing competitive activities. The South Central region includes Missouri, Tennessee, and Alabama. Preferred candidate locations are St. Louis and Nashville.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a diverse sales team of TMs and ATMs to achieve revenue goals for each product category on a period, quarterly, and annual basis in Texas, Colorado, and Arizona.
- Oversee the timely selection, hiring, coaching, and development of the Direct sales team.
- Develop business plans for assigned products to meet or exceed financial sales and marketing objectives.
- Create and manage intelligence-gathering capabilities for the marketplace to ensure objectives are met.
- Direct tactical implementation of business plans and collaborate in strategic planning and sales forecasting.
- Provide market insights, trends, competitive activity, and conditions; recommend adjustments to sales plans.
- Analyze and report training needs, sales programs, and field assets within the sales organization.
- Prepare sales forecasts by product line, assist with quotes, and recommend pricing strategies.
- Identify and lead sales force effectiveness, including portfolio opportunities, selling processes, and business improvements in partnership with Sales leadership, Marketing, Corporate Accounts, and Commercial Operations.
- Build professional and technical knowledge through customer engagement, conferences, workshops, presentations, and training.
- Ensure alignment of surgeon and account targets between direct and indirect sales channels, encouraging collaboration and lead sharing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leads (e.g., sales operations, training, market access, pricing, medical education) to enhance sales force effectiveness.
- Prepare, administer, and control expense budgets as part of overall profits.
- Hold oneself and others accountable to Bioventus’ Code of Compliance and Ethics, policies, and internal controls.
- Align team focus with functional and company goals, providing continuous feedback and coaching using talent-and-performance management tools.
- Perform all other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Must reside in the St. Louis or Nashville area.
- BA/BS in Business, Marketing, Biomedical Sciences, or a relevant field of study.
- Capital and Spine experience preferred.
- Minimum of three years of demonstrated high achievement in Sales Management within the medical device industry.
- Conceptual and strategic planning skills with a track record of product line success and growth.
- Strong leadership skills with a results-oriented, motivating style.
- Multi-unit/cross-product line management experience.
- Outstanding customer relationship and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functionally both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated experience in negotiating agreements and contracts.
