About the role

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Director of Sales to lead the execution of the company's sales strategy and drive profitable revenue growth across power generation, oil & gas, pipelines, petrochemical and refining, industrial automation, and other industrial markets. Based at the company's New Orleans corporate office, the Director of Sales will work closely with the President and Executive Vice President to translate corporate growth objectives into actionable sales plans, territory strategies, strategic account plans, revenue targets, and measurable sales performance goals. This is a highly visible sales leadership position requiring a combination of strong technical/industrial sales expertise, commercial judgment, executive presence, and hands-on leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Translate company growth objectives into comprehensive annual sales plans.
  • Establish revenue, bookings, gross margin, and pipeline targets.
  • Define territory priorities and strategic account objectives.
  • Develop market-development strategies for existing and emerging industrial markets.
  • Identify new business opportunities and expand relationships with existing customers.
  • Directly supervise, coach, mentor, and develop sales professionals and regional sales leadership.
  • Own sales performance against revenue, bookings, gross margin, pipeline, and forecast targets.
  • Conduct regular pipeline and forecast reviews.
  • Review strategic opportunities and ensure appropriate next steps are established.
  • Maintain accurate CRM information, including: Opportunity stages, Probability, Expected close dates, Next steps, Customer information, Sales activity.
  • Improve forecasting accuracy and sales visibility.
  • Build a culture focused on accountability, collaboration, customer service, and profitable growth.
  • Identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist with building and scaling a high-performing sales organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or another related technical/commercial discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive technical, industrial, or B2B sales experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated sales leadership experience.
  • Experience managing sales teams and individual sales professionals.
  • Proven responsibility for: Revenue targets, Gross margin, Pipeline management, Sales forecasting, Account development, Sales performance.
  • Experience selling complex technical solutions such as: Engineered systems, Industrial automation, Control systems, Instrumentation, Capital equipment, Rotating equipment, Retrofit projects, Aftermarket services, Long-cycle industrial solutions.
  • Experience in one or more of the following markets is strongly desired: Power generation, Oil & gas, Pipelines, Petrochemical, Refining, Industrial automation, Energy, Rotating equipment, Engineered industrial systems.
  • Direct experience with: Turbines, Compressors, Generators, Rotating machinery, Control systems, Industrial automation, Engineered solutions.
  • Established customer relationships within: Power generation, Oil & gas, Pipelines, Petrochemical, Refining, Other industrial markets.
  • Experience scaling or strengthening sales organizations.
  • Experience improving: Territory planning, CRM discipline, Forecasting, Pipeline management, Sales coaching, Commercial accountability.
  • Strong understanding of industrial control and instrumentation systems.
  • Knowledge of rotating machinery, including: Turbines, Compressors, Generators.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Knowledge of revenue planning and gross margin management.
  • Pricing strategy experience.
  • Pipeline conversion and forecasting expertise.
  • Ability to analyze sales performance.
  • Ability to understand technical scopes and customer requirements.
  • Ability to review proposals and commercial terms.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Strategic account management expertise.
  • Strong presentation capabilities.
  • Experience using CRM systems for pipeline management, opportunity tracking, forecasting, and sales reporting is particularly important.
