About the Role

The Director of Sales is responsible for planning, developing, executing, and managing sales programs that align with the hotel’s business objectives for both core and outer markets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the sales team to drive results from sales-related segments and achieve overall hotel revenue goals.
  • Achieve non-revenue related goals such as KPIs, proactive sales efforts, and cross-selling.
  • Direct and coordinate company sales functions, including developing and coordinating the sales cycle and methodology.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of sales methods, costs, and results.
  • Develop and manage sales budgets and oversee internal operating budgets.
  • Directly manage major and critical client accounts while coordinating the management of all other accounts.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff.
  • Participate in the development of new project proposals.
  • Establish and implement short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Represent the company at community and business meetings to promote the brand.
  • Supervise the preparation, issuance, and delivery of sales materials, exhibits, and promotion programs.
  • Promote positive relations with partners, vendors, and distributors.
  • Recommend and administer policies and procedures to enhance operations.
  • Work with department managers and corporate staff to develop annual, five-year, and ten-year business plans.
  • Serve on planning and policy-making committees.
  • Support hotel-wide training, guest relations, branding, and cultural initiatives.
  • Maintain awareness of departmental operational challenges and assist when appropriate.
  • Attend hotel-wide social, community, and associate functions.

Requirements

  • College degree.
  • 8 years of sales experience.
  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in a 4 or 5-star hotel.
  • Familiarity with statistical reports and experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
  • Knowledge of structuring sales quota goals and revenue expectations.
  • Ability to understand and communicate market trends, demand generators, supply/demand, and economic factors affecting hotel performance.

  • Ability to compute accurate mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and remain calm while resolving problems using good judgment.
  • Ability to provide clear directions and follow up with subordinates to ensure project completion.
  • Understanding of guest service needs and ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
  • Understanding of market segmentation, yield, and inventory management.

Physical Requirements

  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 lb. without assistance.
  • Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, hearing, and visual acuity.
  • Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods or an entire work shift.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Remain in a stationary position for extended periods.

Pay

$200,000 - $210,000 per year.
