Director of Sales
About the role
The Director of Sales is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for driving revenue growth, market share, and brand positioning for The Menger & Crockett Hotel. This role leads the sales team, develops and executes innovative sales strategies, and builds strong relationships within the local and national marketplace. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Sales partners closely with operations, marketing, and revenue management to deliver exceptional business results and elevate the guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing strategies aligned with revenue goals
- Identify new business opportunities across corporate, group, and leisure segments
- Analyze market trends, competitive set, and demand drivers to inform strategy
- Drive top-line revenue through proactive sales efforts and strong account management
- Collaborate with Revenue Management to optimize pricing, inventory, and forecasting
- Lead weekly sales strategy and pipeline meetings
- Recruit, develop, and inspire a high-performing sales team
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and community stakeholders
- Represent the hotel at industry events, networking functions, and trade shows
- Ensure exceptional service delivery from prospecting through post-event follow-up
- Partner with Marketing to drive brand awareness and lead generation
- Work closely with Operations to ensure seamless execution of group and event business
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
Requirements
- 5–8+ years of progressive hotel sales leadership experience (luxury or lifestyle preferred)
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets
- Strong knowledge of the Houston market and key demand drivers
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
- Experience with CRM systems, sales analytics, and revenue strategy tools
- Able to think strategically while executing tactically
Qualifications
