About the role

Oversee the sales department, driving revenue through outside sales calls, new-account acquisition, site tours, and local business networking. Accountable for forecasting, promotional materials, and ongoing communication with the General Manager. Flexible scheduling availability may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit, negotiate, and book both new and repeat business.
  • Actively sell room nights through outside sales calls, telemarketing, site tours, and other channels.
  • Direct, train, coordinate, and supervise Sales and Catering Managers and the Sales Coordinator in all sales-related activities.
  • Meet or exceed the budgeted REVPAR for the hotel.
  • Prepare the hotel’s annual marketing and sales plan based on the hotel’s position and strengths within each market segment.
  • Forecast occupancy fluctuations based on changing market conditions and direct selling activities to maximize revenue.
  • Ensure that team members (specifically front desk staff) are familiar with key accounts and specifics relating to business booked in the hotel.

Requirements

  • Experience using Hotel Sales Force Automation (Delphi, STS, etc.) is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills to negotiate, convince, sell, and influence professionals and guests.
  • Knowledge of the hotel’s demand segments and sources of business for each, balancing market segments according to supply and demand.
  • Knowledge of the principal competition for each market segment.
  • Highly motivated team player with strong initiative and desire for achievement.
  • Effective in handling workplace problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving issues as necessary.
  • Ability to work well in stressful situations.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Physical demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods. The employee must also lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently.
