Director of Risk and Quality Improvement (RN)
About the role
Unity Psychiatric Care, a division of American Health Partners Inc., operates psychiatric hospitals in several locations across Tennessee and Alabama. These facilities provide specialized care for patients experiencing mental health crises or behavioral disturbances, including those with dementia. Services include comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and behavioral health treatments.
Responsibilities
- Maintain admission and readmission charts for weekly weights
- Evaluate monthly weight reports for significant weight changes and implement appropriate interventions
- Document and weigh meal and supplement consumption processes
- Audit physician orders for medication compliance
- Follow up with physicians and families as necessary
- Audit Pressure Ulcer Risk Assessment forms for appropriate preventative measures
- Audit Fall Risk Assessments forms for appropriate preventative measures
- Monitor Fall Tracking Reports for patients with repeat occurrences
- Identify and address workplace health and safety hazards
- Develop and conduct routine health, safety, and back care training programs
- Participate in various facility committees including care plan, infection control, pharmaceutical, budget, quality assessment and assurance, ADA compliance committee, etc.
- Meet with nursing personnel to identify and correct issues, and improve services
- Rotate call with Director of Nursing and monitor/mentor clinical staff
Requirements
- Assist in maintaining a reference library of nursing materials
- Support the development and implementation of HBIPs, JAR, and EOC reports
- Perform emergency procedures such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Report and intervene in accidents and incidents
- Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing Nursing Services Department
- Implement universal precautions and isolation procedures
- Determine staffing needs and recruit/hire Nursing Service personnel
- Assist in the development and implementation of care plans
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in a healthcare discipline
- Two (2) years’ experience in supervising others in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other health care institution
- Minimum of one (1) year experience implementing total patient care and care planning
- Minimum of six (6) months’ experience in geriatric and/or psychiatric nursing
- Registered nursing (RN) license in the state where the facility is located
- CPR certification
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance
Skills
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
