Director of Resident Services

Full‑time Director of Resident Services position at Camphill Ghent, Inc., an elder‑community residence in Chatham, NY, providing independent and assisted living for 70 residents.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate personnel activities to meet assessment, teaching, and care needs of residents.
• Adhere to and convey the philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, and individuality of residents.
• Recruit and hire home health aides and licensed nursing staff.
• Ensure appropriate consultation with and reporting to prescribing practitioners regarding resident status and progress.
• Oversee development of staffing schedules for home health aides and licensed nursing staff.
• Provide orientation and in‑services/education to home health aides.
• Participate in the quality assurance committee and encourage residents to present grievances or recommendations.
• Respond to resident or staff concerns and report them to the Administrator or appropriate parties.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Strong teamwork, training, supervisory, and management skills; ability to identify and address problems effectively.
• Advanced degree in nursing or a health‑related field preferred.
• At least two years of nursing experience working with the elderly in a residential/facility setting or home‑based care.
