Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administers and schedules a parish religious education program
  • Orders textbooks, teaching materials and resources for religious education programs
  • Prepares an annual budget for the Pastor
  • Prepares a yearly calendar; presents to the Pastor for approval
  • Mets with Pastor routinely to plan and execute CCD program
  • Supports and endorses Diocesan and Parish board policies
  • Provides resources and operates OCIA and facilitates OCIA process
  • Maintains accurate records of students. Mass and Class attendance
  • Maintains Sacramental Records for students
  • Provides access and inclusion for children with special needs
  • Involves family as an essential part in faith formation
  • Create service and fundraising opportunities for Youth Group
  • Maintain weekly sign in and sign out sheets
  • Supervises Youth Minsters, OCIA and Adult programs staff and volunteers
  • Coodinates and prepares teams for Baptismal Prep, First Communion, Confirmation and OCIC Programs as needed
  • Create a Youth Group Program
  • Involvement in Liturgy planning
  • Monitor Protecting God’s Children for volunteers (Compliance for the Diocese)
  • Be a committed, active and dynamic presence in the Parish
  • Facilitate Children’s Liturgy of the Word during 11 AM Sunday Mass
  • Create a Summer Vacation Bible School program and summer programs for teens

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in theology/religious education required or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above-described essential functions
  • 2-4 years of experience preferred working in Religious Education
  • Must have a thorough knowledge and ability to teach Catholic doctrine
  • P Practicing Catholic required
  • Adhere to the Diocese of Palm Beach Code of Conduct with emphasis on confidentiality and the ability to exercise discretion and good judgment
  • Ability to work effectively with Diocesan employees, departments heads, and representatives of other Diocesan agencies

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional light lifting and carrying of under 15 pounds
  • Occasional moderate carrying and lifting of 15 – 44 pounds
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent bending, climbing, stretching and kneeling
  • Frequent use of both hands and fingers
  • Occasional moments of minimal and routine hearing
