About the Role

The Director of Rehabilitation Services directs the three rehab departments—physical, occupational, and speech therapy—to ensure the highest quality of rehab services in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.

Requirements

  • Active license in physical (BSPT, MSPT, DPT, or PTA), occupational (BSOT, MSOT, COTA), or speech (MA, MS, CCC-SLP, or CFY-SLP) therapy, meeting the educational requirements for that license type
  • Currently registered/licensed with the applicable State; must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment
  • Two years’ supervisory experience in post-acute care or a related setting
  • CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation; must remain current during employment

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with patients, families, and support departments to adequately plan for patient needs
  • Demonstrate functional knowledge of payer reimbursement, labor management, strategies, and supply budgets
  • Exercise good body mechanics at all times
  • Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
  • Perform proficiently in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
  • Maintain professional working relationships with associates, vendors, and others
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Understand and follow company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Display integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct; complete mandatory training
  • Recruit, select, hire, evaluate, train, counsel, and supervise Rehab department staff
  • Oversee and evaluate care given by therapy students
  • Direct the growth, development, and maintenance of rehab programs
  • Function as staff therapist as caseload requires
  • Maintain appropriate staffing patterns as clinically indicated
  • Utilize therapy software appropriately and accurately
  • Effectively manage department budget
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients
  • Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
  • Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
  • Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
  • Perform physical tasks: sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
  • Knowledgeable of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing post-acute care facilities
