About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) to lead the rehabilitation department at a skilled nursing facility in the Milwaukee area.

The Director of Rehabilitation will oversee the day-to-day operations of the therapy department, including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy services. The ideal candidate is a strong clinical leader who understands the skilled nursing environment and can effectively support both excellent resident outcomes and a high-performing therapy team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the facility's rehabilitation department
  • Manage and support PT, OT, and SLP therapy staff
  • Coordinate therapy services to ensure residents receive appropriate, high-quality care
  • Oversee therapy scheduling, staffing, caseloads, and departmental workflow
  • Monitor clinical documentation, productivity, and regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with nursing, administration, and interdisciplinary team members on resident care plans
  • Support staff development, training, and performance
  • Monitor department performance and identify opportunities to improve outcomes and efficiency
  • Ensure rehabilitation services comply with facility policies and applicable state and federal requirements
  • Promote a positive, resident-centered culture throughout the rehabilitation department

Qualifications

  • Current Wisconsin license in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology
  • Previous experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting strongly preferred
  • Prior rehabilitation management or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of rehabilitation operations, documentation, and compliance
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and facility leadership
