Duties and Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Management
    • Affixes execution of an annual fundraising business plan, devised by the leader.
    • Conducts regular meetings with the leader to evaluate projects, review strategies, and track progress towards achieving fundraising performance benchmarks.
    • Manages a portfolio of approximately 40 prospects with the capacity to make gifts of $125,000 and more, with an annual production goal exceeding $1,000,000; continuously identifies and contacts additional prospects through research and referrals.
    • Engages individually with prospects and volunteers to advance them toward making a philanthropic commitment to the university.
    • Executes personal gift solicitations, encompassing the comprehension of university priorities, preparation of solicitation materials, conduct of strategy meetings, and provision of briefing materials for President/Vice President of Advancement/Dean or others involved in the solicitation.
    • Directs and refers solicitation to prospects in the portfolio for planned gifts, including bequests and annuities, collaborating with the Planned Giving fundraising team as necessary.
    • Maintains ongoing contact with prospects and documents all interactions in the University Advancement prospect management system.
    • Tracks and submits P-card activity in a timely manner.
  • Build Community
    • Formulates a regional annual plan and strategy for programming, leadership engagement, and fundraising outcomes in the region.
    • Oversees fundraising activities in the region and serves as a liaison to regionally-based volunteer committees.
    • Attends relevant university events and meetings, sometimes during evenings and weekends, representing the university to external constituents.
    • Participates in all UA, Regional Advancement, or other required team or staff meetings.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree, coupled with a minimum of 4 years of development-related experience in higher education, featuring a proven track record of personal portfolio management and securing gifts at the $125K or above level; relevant sales experience may also be considered.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, along with the capability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
    • The necessity to travel for work.
