About the Role

The Director of Quality will be responsible for executing Business and Corporate Quality strategies for assigned divisions. Aligned with the VP of Quality and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), this role will drive the deployment of RealTruck Quality Management Systems (QMS), improve customer satisfaction, and reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ). The position supports a culture of high performance through collaboration across functions, ensuring accountability for policies and procedures. The Director will lead the implementation of processes and productivity improvements to foster a quality culture within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a culture of Quality Excellence aligned with RealTruck Quality Strategy.
  • Support the creation and implementation of a company-wide quality culture and methodologies to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Understand and anticipate key customer needs to ensure quality systems meet or exceed their standards.
  • Monitor quality trends, confer with key customers to define quality issues, and align cross-functional teams on resolution strategies.
  • Assist in corrective action and investigations, ensuring high standards of problem-solving at the site level.
  • Identify recurring trouble spots through ongoing visibility and engagement.
  • Install systems and culture to create a structured, disciplined quality approach while building processes with internal and external partners.
  • Ensure Quality metrics are properly deployed and tracked at the Division level.
  • Support local teams and corporate functions in improving Warranty, COPQ, Scrap, and other Quality-related metrics.
  • Support the implementation of a corporate quality manual for consistency across facilities.
  • Provide expertise on corrective and preventive actions at facilities when necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in Quality Systems Engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of effective team leadership.
  • Proven track record of driving quality improvements over time.
  • Experience in the automotive industry is desired.
  • Lean/Six Sigma green belt certification or equivalent work experience is preferable.

Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of quality assurance methods and improvement tools.
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning – ability to lead technical quality planning and ensure customer satisfaction through structured processes.
  • Dimensional Metrology – ability to apply measurement science for design validation and conformity assessment.
  • Quality System Management – ability to guide the application of quality management system standards.
  • Strong team leadership and collaboration skills; ability to balance team and individual responsibilities.
  • Problem-solving – identifies and resolves issues in a timely manner; works well in group problem-solving situations.
  • Data Analytics – discovers, interprets, and communicates qualitative and quantitative data; proficient in Minitab and expert-level Excel skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Adaptability – manages competing demands and changes approach to fit evolving situations.
  • Communication – speaks clearly and persuasively; listens and responds effectively in group settings.

Travel

Approximately 30% travel required, with potential for higher travel during certain periods.

Supervisor Responsibilities

Plans, organizes, evaluates, and directs employees within the department. This position delegates authority to subordinate supervisors or managers and has direct reports.

Physical Requirements

  • Sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally; sitting most of the time with occasional walking and standing.
  • Physical activities include talking and hearing.
  • Visual acuity required for preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing computer terminals, and inspecting small defects or parts.

Working Conditions

Operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
