Director of Quality

About the role

Thermal Engineering International (TEi), a subsidiary of Babcock Power Inc., is seeking a visionary leader to manage its Quality function. The Director of Quality will oversee the development, implementation, and enhancement of the company’s quality systems and processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining certifications like ISO 9001:2015, ASME Section III, and ASME Section VIII.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Company's Quality function, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and strict adherence to regulatory requirements
• Develop and monitor quality performance metrics, dashboards, and KPIs to facilitate data-driven decision-making
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Project Management teams to ensure clear understanding and fulfillment of quality requirements throughout the product lifecycle
• Ensure compliance with appropriate inspection, testing, and documentation procedures in manufacturing operations
• Act as the primary liaison for quality-related matters with customers, regulatory authorities, and certification bodies
• Prepare and present updates on quality performance, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to the executive leadership team
• Review project proposals, cost estimates, and project quality plans
• Participate in Business Process Improvement (BPI) initiatives

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear, or a related field)
• A Master's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or Business Administration is highly desirable
• A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control within manufacturing, engineering, or heavy industrial sectors
• 5+ years of leadership or management experience, overseeing quality teams, programs, or cross-functional initiatives
• 5+ years of experience within the Power Industry
• Proven expertise in working with ISO 9001:2015, ASME Section III, ASME Section VIII, or other regulated quality systems
• Demonstrated success in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Quality Management Systems
• Experience in leading internal and external audits, including customer, regulatory, and certification audits
• A strong proficiency in root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and continuous improvement methodologies
• Experience in managing supplier quality programs, vendor qualification, and performance monitoring
• Experience with manufacturing processes, fabrication, and welding of pressure-boundary equipment
• ISO 9001:2015, ASME Section III, and/or ASME Section VIII Lead Auditor certification, or an equivalent auditing credential
• Certifications in Non-Destructive Testing, including Visual Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Radiographic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Eddy Current Testing, Dye Penetrant Testing, Acoustic Emission Testing, or Leak Testing
• Certifications in Lean Six Sigma, including Master Black Belt, Black Belt, Green Belt, or Yellow Belt
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Advanced skills in Excel for data analysis, reporting, and KPI tracking, utilizing features such as pivot tables, charts, and formulas
• Knowledgeable in document control systems and electronic records management practices
• Skilled in employing software tools for nonconformance management, corrective actions, and root-cause analysis
