About the role

The Director of Quality Assurance is a senior leadership role with cross-site responsibility for all quality functions across two manufacturing locations. Reporting to the COO, this leader will oversee a team of approximately 15 people across four functional areas: Compliance, Sparks Site Quality, Benicia Site Quality, and Supplier Quality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all quality functions across multiple manufacturing sites, including: Compliance Management, Site Quality Operations – Facility 1 (10 direct reports), Site Quality Operations – Facility 2 (3 direct reports), and Supplier Quality Management.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and quality processes.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective action programs.
  • Develop and strengthen supplier quality strategies and performance.
  • Identify and mitigate operational and quality risks proactively.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Program Management, and Executive Leadership to achieve business objectives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, quality excellence, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Extensive aerospace quality leadership experience with strong knowledge of AS9100 standards and certification requirements.
  • Direct experience working with the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) – required.
  • Proven expertise in Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) methodologies and problem-solving frameworks.
  • Experience leading supplier quality programs within multi-site or enterprise-level organizations.
  • Strong process improvement background, including Lean, Six Sigma, or similar operational excellence methodologies.
  • Experience supporting both commercial and defense aerospace programs.
  • Demonstrated success in risk identification, mitigation, and quality system enhancement.
  • Exceptional cross-functional leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Proven ability to lead organizational change and build high-performing teams.
  • Executive presence with the ability to effectively communicate and represent quality initiatives at the senior leadership level.

Pay

We offer a competitive compensation package that includes a base salary commensurate with experience and geographic location, along with eligibility for an annual performance bonus of up to 20% of W-2 earnings.
