About the role
The Public Works Director serves as a key executive leader responsible for the planning, direction, and oversight of all Public Works operations, services, and capital programs. Reporting to the City Manager, this position provides strategic leadership for the City's infrastructure systems and ensures the effective delivery of essential public services that support the community's quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Oversee engineering, maintenance, sanitation, water system operations, and transit services
- Ensure the effective delivery of essential public services
- Balance day-to-day operational demands with long-range planning initiatives
- Maintain, enhance, and position aging infrastructure to meet future community needs
Requirements
- A strong background in civil engineering, infrastructure management, water and sanitation operations
- Demonstrated commitment to public service excellence
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in public works administration
- Experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects
- Strong leadership skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders

Pay
The annual salary range for the Public Works Director position is $222,417 – $275,374; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
