Director of Psychology

About the role

This position serves as the leader of the Psychology department of a 110-bed licensed adult Psychiatric hospital. This position develops, oversees, and evaluates psychological testing, evaluation, and treatment services for severely mentally ill patients. Requirements of this position include providing reports and evaluations of behavioral programming, staff accountability performances, and unit or facility performance. This position will testify in court hearings as an expert witness. Administers psychological diagnostic tests, synthesizes, and evaluates the results.

Qualifications

• Education: Master's degree in psychology from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Licensure/Certifications: Must be a licensed psychologist in West Virginia.
• Experience: Six (6) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in the field of psychology, researching or teaching, or practicing psychological counseling.
• Experience Substitution: Doctorate degree in psychology from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
• Internal Applicants Only: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience as a Psychologist may substitute for the required experience.

Through ongoing collaboration with Marshall University's Department of Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry, a variety of medical and clinical professionals partner with the hospital's own staff to work diligently with patients to achieve a smooth transition back to the community after discharge.
