Director of Procurement
About the role
As the Director of Procurement, you will lead the sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management strategies that keep Coastal Waste & Recycling operations running efficiently across multiple markets. This role is responsible for ensuring Coastal receives the right equipment, parts, materials, and services at the best value while supporting operational uptime and long-term growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute procurement and sourcing strategies across the organization
- Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and service terms with suppliers and vendors
- Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships that support operational performance and cost control
- Identify opportunities to standardize purchasing practices and improve buying power
- Analyze spending trends and purchasing data to drive savings and improve efficiency
- Implement procurement reporting, supplier scorecards, and performance metrics
- Partner with Operations, Fleet, Maintenance, and Finance teams to support business needs
- Lead vendor onboarding, procurement process improvements, and purchasing workflow enhancements
- Support procurement systems and technology initiatives to improve visibility and efficiency
- Provide leadership and guidance on procurement best practices and supplier performance
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred
10+ years of procurement, sourcing, supply chain, purchasing, or related experience
Experience sourcing fleet parts, heavy equipment, industrial MRO supplies, services, or operational materials
Strong contract negotiation and supplier management experience
Experience analyzing spend data and identifying cost-saving opportunities
Experience with procurement systems such as Coupa, SAP, or similar platforms
Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience in waste management, transportation, logistics, construction, heavy equipment, or similar industries preferred
Experience with TRUX, RTA, Power BI, or related systems preferred
Bilingual Spanish or Creole is a plus
Qualifications
