Director of Portfolio Operations

About the role

As Director of Portfolio Operations you provide the overall vision, planning, direction, and control for a geographic district that typically generates $12–30 M+ in annual revenue. This leadership role is accountable for executing the General Management program with a focus on growth, cost, productivity, people leadership, and financial commitments. Success is measured by revenue growth, EBIT, margin, consumer satisfaction, client loyalty, and employee engagement. Frequent travel to client sites throughout the district is expected.

Responsibilities

• Establish ownership and accountability for the operational management and financial performance of multiple accounts and units.
• Model key leadership behaviors and ensure the highest levels of safety, quality, and service excellence for employees, clients, and consumers.
• Coach and mentor employees by crafting a shared understanding of how and what needs to be achieved; reward and recognize performance.
• Identify and develop top talent to their fullest potential within the organization; plan and lead team management meetings.
• Ensure safety and sanitation standards in all operations.
• Build and maintain effective client and customer relationships for mutually beneficial business outcomes.
• Identify client needs, communicate operational progress, and understand contractual obligations; leverage opportunities within contract terms.
• Facilitate and support new business and retention activities; ensure customer satisfaction surveys are completed in all locations.
• Build revenue and manage budgets with sensitivity to costs and client needs; maintain P&L statements for the district.
• Deliver client and company financial targets using Aramark systems; analyze performance metrics, data, order and inventory trends; educate teams on key levers to improve margins.
• Lead managers in implementing and maintaining corporate labor and financial initiatives to drive productivity and value.
• Ensure consistent application of Aramark’s operating standards and processes (Operational Excellence) with a focus on efficiency.
• Understand the end-to-end supply chain and procurement process; ensure only authorized suppliers are used.
• Ensure unit managers maintain a safe and healthy environment for clients, customers, and employees; comply with all applicable policies, rules, and regulations.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of proven leadership experience, including P&L responsibility within hospitality, retail, facilities, direct store delivery, or food and beverage industries.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with broad knowledge of management practices, business judgment, and client/consumer interaction.
• Ability to hire, assess, develop, and grow hard-working talent.
• Comfort reading, understanding, and implementing contractual requirements; identifying opportunities within contract terms to address operational issues.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate at all levels of the organization.
• Proven success in a repeatable business model, including leading through change and turnaround initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree is generally required; advanced degree in business or a related field is preferred.
