About the role

The Director Plant Operations oversees the Plant Operations Department at the facility, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and providing support to the Plant Operations Department to ensure successful oversight of the hospital's plant operations, safety, and security.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and oversees the organization's Plant Operations Program, including facility maintenance, life safety, and housekeeping operations.
  • Inspects the facility for proper operation and working conditions, maintaining maintenance records, and collaborating with the Corporate Plant Operations Director for auditing and training.
  • Serves as an additional trainer for crisis intervention and de-escalation training, collaborating with the Environment of Care Director when needed.
  • Collaborates with the Corporate Plant Operations Director for construction/remodeling projects, ensuring they meet safety standards and are cost-effective for the facility.
  • Serves as the Hospital Safety Officer, scheduling regular meetings with the Hospital Leadership Team to ensure a safe workplace and safe care environment for all employees and patients.
  • Determines cause of problems, formulates and evaluates possible solutions, and ensures compliance with Life Safety Standards.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years in Facilities Management, with preferred Healthcare experience.
  • Experience in management/supervision of a Plant Operations Department, including EVS, Security, Grounds, Biomed, etc.
  • Knowledge of facility buildings, equipment, and utilities.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent required. A college degree in Engineering is preferred.

Qualifications / Skills

  • Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Mathematics, computer, reasoning, and language skills preferred.
  • Ability to perform heavy work or lifting and carrying, pushing and/or pulling objects; climb ladders; and use hand tools.
  • Must successfully complete CPR certification and an Oceans approved behavioral health de-escalation program.

Work Environment

Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to the atmosphere. Work requires spending approximately 90% or more of the time inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
