Position Summary

The Director of Philanthropic Partnerships is responsible for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of grants and sponsorships from foundations, corporations, and government funders. This position identifies funders that align with the work of the Museum and with input from across the organization to develop strategies that result in proposals for general support and priority programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serving as the Museum’s chief ambassador for all major corporate relationships.
  • Alligning the goals and assets of CHM and the goals of corporate partners for mutual success.
  • Working across the Museum to establish partnership strategies.
  • Executing to build corporate relationships, both in fundraising and in strategic non-funding relationships, across all levels of a partner organization.
  • Building and maintaining a large pipeline of prospects ranging from large companies to mid-size companies to small startups.
  • Growing a deep, continuing set of mutually beneficial corporate relationships and building upon them over time.
  • Meting measurable financial and action goals and reporting progress regularly.
  • Writing, presenting and following up on proposals and identifying the decision-makers and stakeholders necessary to a successful outcome.

Qualifications And Skills

  • The professional background, experience, and technical skills required for success in this role.
  • A required Bachelor’s degree with an MBA preferred.
  • Corporate experience dealing directly with marketing budgets and marketing and sponsorship decisions; or equivalent experience in the non-profit sector.
  • A proven track record of fundraising success over time with widely varied partners.
  • Outstanding presentation and communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability, and total comfort with, building strong relationships at the C-level.
  • Demonstrated ability to make clear and effective proposals, and to follow them up effectively.
  • Excellent communications skills, with an emphasis on writing well.
  • Demonstrated persistence, patience and creativity.
  • Flexibility to work nights and occasional weekends when Museum events require.

Compensation

Competitive and commensurate with experience. Salary Range: $125,000–$150,000 annually.
