Director of Pharmacy

About the role

The Director of Pharmacy at Parkland Medical Center is an incentive eligible position committed to caring for patients with purpose and integrity. This role involves planning, organizing, controlling, and supervising hospital pharmacy activities, recommending innovations, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Establishes quality improvement, fiscal, productivity, and patient satisfaction goals and objectives.
• Safeguards drug information through in-service education and consultation.
• Assists staff pharmacists with routine duties.
• Imparts therapeutic and drug information to patients and health professionals.
• Promotes teamwork among staff, peers, physicians, and others.
• Maintains appropriate controls to ensure smooth operations.
• Evaluates the quality of services and reports data.
• Maintains compliance with JCAHO, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, hospital policies, and other regulations.
• Develops and implements department-specific policies and procedures.
• Determines employee competence and provides learning experiences.
• Participates in hospital committees and tasks.
• Adheres to the "Code of Conduct" and "Mission and Value Statement."

Qualifications

• B.S. or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.
• Five years hospital leadership experience and/or PGY2 leadership residency completion preferred.
• Knowledgeable and proficient in legal responsibilities of the pharmacist.
• Knowledge of pathophysiology, interpretation of diagnostic criteria, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacotherapeutics.
• Current Pharmacist license in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy.
• Current Consultant Pharmacist license in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy (applicable for FL only).
• Controlled Substance License in good standing with appropriate State Board of Pharmacy (applicable for some positions).
