Job Summary
Responsible for managing the pharmacy program, including drug formulary design and development, implementation, and risk management in a manner that improves quality, controls utilization, and contains costs. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of clinical, administrative, financial, and regulatory pharmacy.
Essential Functions
- Strategize, create, and oversee Pharmacy department tasks and projects, including identifying opportunities for process improvement.
- Lead operational teams overseeing commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare lines of business.
- Manage pharmacy staff, including recruitment, coaching, development, and performance management.
- Manage the budget related to the Pharmacy department.
- Develop, implement, and manage a Clinical Pharmacy plan that includes establishing and achieving short- and long-term goals, while managing pharmacy trends and costs of care across commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare lines of business.
- Track and analyze pharmacy utilization data and trends for finance and other management staff.
- Promote efficiency and effectiveness in clinical pharmacy operations.
- Collaborate with Mass General Brigham on enterprise-wide pharmacy matters.
- Oversee specialty pharmacy relationships and distribution processes.
- Develop strategies to understand and manage pharmacy spending in medical settings reimbursed through the medical claims adjudication process.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy required or Doctor of Pharmacy.
- Licenses and Credentials: Pharmacist [State License] - Generic - HR Only required.
- Experience: Pharmacy experience working within a managed care setting 3-5 years preferred and Fiscal accounting experience 8-10+ years required and Experience managing Pharmacy staff 5-7 years required.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Solid understanding and knowledge of the managed care industry in commercial and government programs. Strong, demonstrated track record of ability to execute on time, on budget, and on scope. Strong aptitude for technology-based solutions. Current in healthcare trends. Excellent leadership skills and leadership track record. Strong verbal, active listening, and written communication skills. Ability to view the long-range trends and cycles of the business and industry and see the “big picture”. Knowledge of Federal and State regulations and Accreditation standards. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and negotiation skills. Solid written and verbal communication skills.
