About the role
The purpose of this job is to assist the Chief of Child, Adolescent, and Substance Use Disorder Services in the coordination and implementation of clinical services offered in various Behavioral Health Programs. This includes specialized initiatives such as First Episode Psychosis (FEP), Transition Age Youth Programs, and Peer Support Services. This Director is also responsible for other specialty programs that may be developed or acquired.
Responsibilities
- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, completing employee performance appraisals, and chart audits.
- Provides clinical supervision including orientation and training, individual and group supervision, and evaluation of performance.
- Ensures specialty programs successfully achieve program outcomes, maintain fidelity, and fiscal stewardship.
- Oversee First Episode Psychosis (FEP) programming with a focus on early intervention, high-fidelity care, and performance monitoring.
- Oversee the development, expansion, and integration of peer support services across organization departments.
- Build partnerships with community organizations, advocacy groups, and local government to expand the reach and funding of peer-led services.
- Ensures that best clinical practices are being utilized by staff by researching evidence-based practices, implementing new/updated protocols, auditing charts/notes, and conducting trainings to keep staff informed.
- Affords assistance with recruitment, hiring, and training of staff and volunteers/students.
- Plans and attend community outreach events to promote and educate the El Paso community about mental health and counseling services.
- Conducts, coordinates, and/or facilitates training, presentations, and meetings.
- Participates in and facilitates leadership meetings as appropriate.
- Works on program sustainability plan: applying for additional grants, plan, and initiate billing, decreasing costs, increasing revenues, making necessary program changes, etc.
Requirements
- Requires a Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or a related subject supplemented by one (1) year of supervisory experience and three (3) years of experience in direct use of pragmatic (i.e., structural, strategic and functional) family therapies; individual therapy with children and adults using cognitive behavioral techniques, or closely related field; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Experience with trauma-informed resiliency-oriented care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and other evidence-based practices such as Nurturing Parenting, Play Therapy, and family therapies.
- Experience with trauma-informed services; cognitive behavioral therapies, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); and motivational therapies including the use of incentives, preferred.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of trauma-informed theories, principals, and practices (includes multi-faceted understanding of concepts such as community trauma, intergenerational and historical trauma, parallel processes, and universal precautions), preferred.
