About the role
We are revolutionizing industries through cutting-edge collaborative and autonomous mobile robotic technologies. As Director of Operations for our new US Operations hub in Wixom, MI, you will serve as the site’s senior operational leader, reporting to the VP Operations and overseeing manufacturing, test, warehouse operations, production planning, and customer shipments for the Universal Robots product line.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring production targets are met on time, within budget, and aligned with quality standards and specifications.
- Drive functional excellence across the US operations team, including manufacturing, test, warehouse operations, production planning, and customer shipments.
- Develop and implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, improve workflow, increase machine availability, and boost productivity.
- Collaborate with supply chain and global operations partners to ensure material availability, minimize downtime, and align best practices across sites in Denmark and China.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, champion a zero-incident culture, and maintain accurate functional procedures and documentation.
- Mentor and manage key personnel, fostering a high-performance, engaged team while identifying improvement opportunities and driving corrective actions through root cause analysis and 8D methods.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience; MBA or relevant master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of manufacturing management experience, preferably within robotics, automation, or complex machinery environments.
- Engineering background as a mechanical, manufacturing, or test engineer.
- Experience with assembly and test of complex machinery.
- Strong knowledge of DFM, DFT, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Proven track record of improving production efficiency, quality metrics, cycle times, process performance, and machine availability.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing analytics tools.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and root cause analysis skills, including experience driving corrective actions.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and engage high-performing teams.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with supply chain, global operations partners, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10+ years of manufacturing management experience, preferably within robotics, automation, or complex machinery environments.
- Strong engineering background as a mechanical, manufacturing, or test engineer.
- Experience with assembly and test of complex machinery.

Pay
The base salary range for this role is $183,200-$292,200. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
