Director of Operations & Special Projects
About the role
Responsible for supporting the Vice President of Operations in the execution of operational strategy across a multi-site dental organization. This role provides leadership to Area Managers, partners with cross-functional departments, and leads enterprise initiatives that improve practice performance, standardize operations, support growth, and strengthen organizational infrastructure. The Director serves as a strategic operational leader focused on execution, accountability, continuous improvement, and successful implementation of company priorities.
Responsibilities
- Create & Support execution of the organization's operational strategy, business plan, annual budget, and key performance indicators.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability to Area Managers and field leadership while fostering professional growth.
- Monitor production, collections, EBITDA, scheduling efficiency, hygiene performance, staffing, patient satisfaction, and other operational metrics.
- Partner with Doctors and Practice Leaders to drive accountability.
- Lead enterprise special projects including acquisitions, integrations, office transitions, technology implementations, and strategic initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operational best practices.
- Partner with Finance, Revenue Cycle, Human Resources, Marketing, Clinical, IT, and Executive Leadership to remove operational barriers and improve results.
- Analyze operational and financial performance to identify opportunities, mitigate risk, and develop action plans.
- Support staffing, onboarding, and retention.
- Cookordination project plans, timelines, communication, and accountability for cross-functional initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, profitability, patient experience, and team engagement.
- Develop leadership talent through coaching, onboarding, succession planning, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, HIPAA requirements, regulatory standards, and operational expectations.
- Travel routinely to support practices, project implementation, and leadership development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum five years of multi-site healthcare or dental operations leadership experience.
- Strong financial and operational acumen with experience managing budgets, P&Ls, forecasting, and KPI reporting.
- Demonstrated success leading organizational change and cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and project management skills.
- Experience with dental practice management systems and Microsoft Office.

Pay
The annual salary range for this position is between $125,000 and $140,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors.
Schedule
This is a hybrid role. Candidates must reside in Illinois or Northwest Indiana and be willing to travel to all company locations. Regular travel is required, including occasional overnight trips.
