Director of Operations, Programs

About the role

The Director of Operations, Programs provides leadership for a broad range of programs and operational functions at the Newark YMCA, with responsibility for program strategy, quality, financial performance, staff leadership, participant experience, and facility readiness across Sports, Aquatics, Gymnastics, Teens, and Family programming.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans for all YMCA programs and operations
• Oversee the delivery of high-quality programs and services to ensure member satisfaction
• Manage staff to foster a positive work environment and promote professional growth
• Ensure compliance with YMCA policies and external regulations
• Collaborate with other departments to enhance overall YMCA operations
• Identify opportunities for growth and innovation within the YMCA's sports and recreation offerings

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Physical Education, Recreation Management)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a YMCA setting
• Proven ability to manage and lead a team
• Strong understanding of YMCA values and mission
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Qualifications

• Experience in sports management, aquatics, gymnastics, or youth development
• Knowledge of YMCA policies and procedures
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
