Director of Operations

About the role
Assists the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of club operations, including activities and relationships between guests and associates. Ensures revenue production and solid financial performance of the property. Supports key managers in self-development, adherence to Troon Standards, and achieving financial success.
Responsibilities
- Develops, administers, and achieves the annual golf revenue plan, targeting hotel play and other outside markets.
- Oversees the care and maintenance of all club physical assets, coordinating efforts with Clubhouse Managers as needed.
- Audits inventories to assess control reliability and identifies opportunities to manage product costs and other expenses.
- Prepares and monitors quarterly revenue goals, expenses, and generates weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual business volume reports while updating forecasts.
- Monitors all financial reports and statements monthly, recommending corrective action for negative budget variances.
- Tracks business volume forecasts and advises on adjustments to manpower, productivity, cost of sales, operating costs, and other key elements.
- Manages marketing efforts to promote controlled golf access to target markets.
- Collaborates with key managers to develop and achieve business and operating plans.
- Participates in creating events and menus for restaurants and banquets to appeal to diverse preferences.
- Reviews catering policies and pricing, oversees events and restaurant operations on an ad-hoc basis, and ensures timely recovery from special events.
- Assists the General Manager in monitoring department and associate performance, including semi-annual reviews as needed.
- Supports interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, evaluating performance, and addressing associate issues.
- Develops preventive maintenance programs for the clubhouse and coaches Clubhouse Managers in implementation.
- Organizes data compilation for annual budgets and the club’s comprehensive business plan, serving as the budget manager.
- Monitors personnel policies, ensures compliance with human resources procedures, and manages deviations.
- Attends weekly F&B, department head, and key manager meetings, chairing as needed, and participates in member committee meetings.
- Updates and oversees implementation of policies and procedures across departments, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Monitors safe-work practices and coordinates ongoing safety education programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (BA); or four to six years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Multi-course facilities may require more experience.
- Ability to read and speak English may be required for communication with customers and co-workers.
- Knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
- CMAA member, GCSSA, or PGA/LPGA membership preferred.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stands, walks, and sits; occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crawls, or crouches.
- Regularly uses hands to finger, handle, reach, talk, or hear; occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions with moderate noise levels.
