About the role

The Director of Operations oversees all utility locating activities and traffic control services in their respective regions. Key responsibilities include managing operations managers and supervisors, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and driving productivity through process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement resource plans to execute contracts effectively
  • Ensure projects and programs align with Telecon commitments, budgets, and customer requirements
  • Lead and mentor operations managers and supervisors towards achieving company goals
  • Oversee fleet and equipment management to optimize financial performance
  • Monitor and report on business unit performance regularly
  • Participate in estimate/RFP preparation based on market knowledge and pricing
  • Work with senior leaders and the talent & culture team to ensure proper resources are in place
  • Meet with key clients and visit onsite projects to ensure client satisfaction

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years at the management level
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Professional designation (P. Eng or PMP) considered an asset
  • Previous experience in utility locating is strongly preferred

Qualifications

  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and manage projects with limited supervision
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and improving productivity through process improvement
  • Strong interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Ability to travel locally and to different states
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and experience developing and implementing new teams, offices, and programs
