The Director of Operations is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of the organization's operational activities to ensure efficiency, profitability, service excellence, and sustainable growth. The role develops and implements operational strategies, optimizes business processes, manages budgets, drives continuous improvement, and ensures that all operational functions align with the organization's strategic objectives. The Director of Operations works closely with executive leadership to improve operational performance, customer satisfaction, and overall business productivity. Details Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Develop and execute the organization's operational strategy.Align operational objectives with the company's strategic goals.Lead operational transformation and business improvement initiatives.Advise executive management on operational risks and opportunities.Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Operations Management Oversee the day-to-day operations of all business units.Ensure operational excellence across departments.Standardize operational processes and procedures.Improve operational efficiency and reduce waste.Ensure timely delivery of products and services. Business Process Improvement Identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions.Drive Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement initiatives.Develop and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Automate workflows where appropriate.Measure and improve productivity across departments. Supply Chain & Logistics Oversee procurement, inventory, warehousing, and logistics operations.Ensure efficient inventory management.Optimize vendor relationships and procurement strategies.Improve supply chain efficiency and cost-effectiveness.Ensure timely delivery and distribution. Financial Management Prepare and manage the operations budget.Monitor operational costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.Improve operational profitability.Ensure efficient resource allocation.Analyze operational financial performance. Customer Experience Ensure exceptional service delivery.Improve customer satisfaction and retention.Resolve operational issues affecting customers.Monitor service quality standards.Implement customer-centric operational improvements. Risk Management & Compliance Identify operational risks and develop mitigation strategies.Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.Oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance.Maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans.Conduct operational audits. Technology & Digital Transformation Champion operational technology initiatives.Oversee ERP and operations management systems.Utilize operational analytics for decision-making.Improve digital workflow adoption.Drive automation initiatives. Project Management Lead strategic operational projects.Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.Coordinate cross-functional teams.Monitor project milestones and outcomes.Report project performance to executive leadership. Leadership & People Management Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing operations teams.Set departmental goals and KPIs.Conduct performance evaluations.Promote employee engagement and accountability.Build leadership capability within the operations function. Vendor & Stakeholder Management Develop strategic relationships with suppliers and partners.Negotiate contracts and service agreements.Evaluate vendor performance.Ensure suppliers meet quality and delivery expectations.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Professional Certifications One Or More Of The Following Is Desirable Project Management Professional (PMP)Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black BeltCertified Operations Manager (COM)Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT)Institute of Directors (IoD) certification (advantageous) Experience Minimum of 10–15 years of progressive operations management experience.At least 5 years in a senior leadership or executive operations role.Demonstrated success in leading large, cross-functional teams.Experience in process optimization, business transformation, and operational strategy.Strong financial and commercial management experience.
