About the role
The Director of Operations is an experienced operations executive who generates significant impact through the strategic and tactical direction of receiving, warehousing, delivery & distribution, and logistics for the Company. This position directs and develops department heads in supply chain and distribution, reports directly to the President, and serves as a member of the executive team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and direct the management of the company’s fulfillment/distribution centers to ensure fast and accurate order processing, inventory control, proper and timely receipt/stocking of goods, cost-efficient shipping direct to customers, and effective processing of returns
- Manage logistics and outbound transportation processes; negotiate parcel freight programs
- Implement improved processes and management methods to generate higher ROI through workflow optimization
- Lead with a business owner mindset—providing financial discipline and identifying key levers to enhance profitable performance
- Strategic planning and execution to enhance profitability, productivity, and efficiency throughout the company’s operations
- Interact regularly with the executive team and individual department heads to ensure operational priorities align with total company direction
- Evaluate regularly the efficiency of business procedures according to organizational objectives and apply improvements
- Continuous improvement of processes evaluated through clear and relevant performance metrics; present suggestions to President for consideration
- Lead collaborative interdepartmental process improvements to deliver absolute reliability to customers
- Troubleshoot issues that impact the supply chain
- Regularly look for ways to reduce costs and waste using a variety of analytical tools
- Identify and implement KPI metrics to measure and improve performance
- Serve as a Safety Champion for the organization and warehouse operations by actively participating in the Corporate Safety Committee, promoting a strong workplace safety culture, and collaborating across departments to advance safety initiatives
- Identify competitive strategies and evaluate, adjust, or redraft the organization’s programs accordingly, ensuring thorough communication of imperatives and action items to the team(s)
- Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communication, coaching, training, and development of the management team and their direct reports
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required and 10+ years of related experience in operations or supply chain management; or equivalent combination of education and experience; MBA or Master’s degree preferred
- Industrial distribution experience required
- Financial Management and Business Acumen
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Exceptional leadership and problem-solving/analysis skills
- Excellent organizational, leadership, motivational, analytical problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft-based technology programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with developing and monitoring operation strategies, data analysis, and performance/operational metrics
- Successful development, leadership, performance management, and coaching experience of all operation departments
- Technical capacity
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, build solid relationships in teams, with peers and management; lead cross-functional teams and initiatives
- Experience in operations, manufacturing environments
- Strong sense of urgency and accountability

Physical/Mental Requirements
- Requires prolonged sitting, standing, bending, and walking
- Moderate to heavy use of hands in grasping, repetitive hand movement, and finger coordination in keeping records and using a keyboard
- Speech and hearing to communicate effectively in group settings, one-on-one, and by telephone
- High level of concentration, confidentiality, and organization
- Ability to multi-task

Pay
Target compensation: $105k–$125k salary
