About the role

The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) and ensuring that the agency operates efficiently, effectively, and in alignment with its priorities. Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner for Operations, the Director manages core operational functions including budgeting, procurement, contracts, and internal systems, while supporting cross-agency coordination and strategic initiatives. The role ensures that resources are allocated effectively, internal processes are clear and functional, and the agency is positioned to execute on its goals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including budgeting, procurement, contracts, and administration.
  • Manage financial planning and resource allocation to support agency priorities.
  • Lead contract and procurement processes, ensuring compliance with City requirements.
  • Develop and improve internal systems, processes, and workflows to increase efficiency.
  • Support cross-agency coordination and operational alignment across teams.
  • Monitor operational performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support implementation of agency initiatives by ensuring operational readiness and coordination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in operations, administration, public service, or a related field.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in or with government or large public sector organizations.
  • Strong experience in operations, budgeting, and administrative management.
  • Experience managing contracts, procurement, and compliance processes.
  • Ability to improve systems, workflows, and operational performance.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience managing staff and supporting team performance.
  • Ability to work across teams and coordinate complex efforts.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. City employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.

Pay

$100,000.00 – $125,000.00
