Director of Operations
About the Role
Location: Winter Park, FL. In person, five days a week. Reports to Carson Slade, Founder and CEO. Full-time, exempt.
You run Ace day to day. As Director of Operations you hold the Integrator seat beside the founder: head of the office, the person every department lead answers to, the one who makes decisions the same day instead of waiting. The founder sets direction and brings in the business; you run everything else.
Ace is a creator marketing and growth agency in Winter Park. We run the social accounts, content, growth and monetization behind creator brands, on software and AI tools we built ourselves. Today that is a team of ten in one Winter Park office, serving twenty clients. Our clients work in the adult-content creator industry; Ace is the marketing and operations team behind them. You will not produce or appear in content, but you will need to be comfortable running a professional operation for clients in that industry and handling confidential material with discretion.
What This Seat Gives You
- You own the operating system, not a slice of it — standards, people, the weekly rhythm, the numbers, the fixes. Nobody above you except the founder.
- You build instead of maintain. The company is small and growing; the scorecards, coverage model and onboarding you set up become how the company runs.
- Decisions take days, not quarters. You and the founder meet every week; disagreements get settled with evidence, in the room, and then everyone executes.
- Every function runs on AI tooling we built. You will use it daily and decide what gets built next.
- We are hiring several roles right now and plan to double the team over the next year. The DOO leads that growth and, with HR, shapes how every new person is brought in.
- The seat is built to become the COO role as the company doubles.
- Ace funds an external operator or Integrator development program for you in year one.
Responsibilities
People & Teams
- The account managers, support staff, and the software and AI lead report to you. You interview alongside HR, then review, coach, and make the call when needed.
- Set the software team's priorities and delivery commitments; the lead makes the technical calls.
- The social account-management team: standards, capacity, coverage, performance management, and accountability for client results.
Hiring & HR Partnership
- HR runs the process; you scope the roles, sit in interviews for your teams, onboard every new hire from offer to the 90-day mark, and work performance and people issues as they come up.
Finance (with the Founder)
- Budgets, cash and spend, bookkeeping and the monthly close with our accountant, payroll with our payroll provider, vendor and contractor terms, and partner performance reviews.
- Produce the numbers the founder runs the company on and work them with him every week.
- Banking, compensation and offers stay with the founder.
Operating Rhythm
- The weekly operating rhythm: scorecards, issues list, decisions logged with an owner and a date.
- Problems caught before clients or creators feel them.
Decision Rights
- Reviews, corrective action and hiring recommendations for the social team, support staff and the software and AI function. HR runs the hiring process and the hiring team makes the final call.
- Spend inside the approved budget, vendor and contractor contracts, payroll runs and the monthly close, with the founder's sign-off; workload and portfolio allocation.
- Compensation, offers, exceptions and company priorities go to the founder.
First 90 Days (Measured)
- Every client portfolio has a named owner and a tested backup.
- A weekly operating review runs on scorecards the team trusts.
- New account managers are productive in 30 days.
Requirements
Who Thrives Here
- You have directly managed managers or team leads across more than one function for two-plus years.
- You have turned an underperforming team around and can say how.
- You have owned or run the finances of a business of at least $1 million a year: budgets, cash, payroll and the monthly close, not just a cost line.
- You use AI tools in your own operating work every day and check what they tell you.
- You run the room: daily check-ins, direct feedback, quick decisions, with the team and the founder in front of you.
- You will wear every hat at some point, and you are fine with that.
Honest Constraints
- This is five days a week in our Winter Park office, because the work is hands-on with the team and the founder every day.
- The team is small, so you will do real work alongside leading it.
- Our office day runs 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Creator accounts get restricted or banned at any hour; you are the escalation point when they do, with a rotation and a backup behind you.
Please Do Not Apply If
- You have never had people report to you, or you have only ever led one function.
- You have never run budgets, payroll or the books for a business.
- You want to be told what to do each week rather than set what the week is.
- You need a remote or hybrid week.
- You want the founder's seat rather than the seat beside it.
- You are not comfortable working with clients in the adult-content creator industry.
How We Work
- One office, in person, ten people who all do real work. Nobody manages from a distance.
- AI tools in every workflow, built in-house, checked by a person before anything ships to a client.
- Direct feedback, in the room, the same day. Problems get named early and fixed fast.
Pay and Benefits
- $130,000 to $160,000 salary, plus a performance bonus of up to 15% of salary — half on company revenue against an annual target and half on the operating scorecard.
- Paid time off and paid holidays.
- Health, dental, vision and life insurance and a 401(k) with employer match for eligible full-time employees.
