Director of Operations - Affordable Housing

About the role

The Director of Operations reports directly to the Executive Vice President and Head of Berkadia Affordable Housing. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth execution of key functions of Berkadia’s Affordable Housing platform.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop resources, manage rollout and training initiatives
• Continuously monitor business needs to drive process improvement, operational efficiency, and platform growth
• Lead and elevate team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment
• Represent the Affordable Housing platform with key corporate functions of Berkadia
• Provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction to support operational and production activities
• Track key production and productivity metrics to ensure accurate, actionable reporting
• Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement solutions to enhance output quality and client satisfaction
• Drive platform and corporate initiatives to align with organizational goals and overall operational effectiveness
• Facilitate communication and collaboration through regular interactions, introductions, and information sharing
• Partner with stakeholders across business lines to enhance processes, products, tools, and systems
• Assist in resolving conflicts, bottlenecks, and other challenges that may arise
• Partner with Talent Acquisition to support recruiting efforts, onboarding, and facilitate comprehensive training programs for new hires
• Devise strategies to enhance processes, deliverables, and overall platform competitiveness
• Monitor business systems to ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy

Qualifications

• Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, with strong verbal and written communication abilities across internal and external stakeholders
• Experience with central aspects of commercial real estate finance, preferably multifamily Affordable Housing
• Strong project management and analytical/problem-solving skills, with the ability to delegate effectively and thrive under pressure
• Ability to influence and work collaboratively with broad diverse groups of professionals
• Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and adaptability in a diverse environment
• Proficiency in leveraging technology and tools to streamline workflows and enhance productivity
• 7+ years of experience in a similar position
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent

$150,000—$175,000 USD

Schedule

This role allows for regular hybrid work arrangement, sharing time between a designated Berkadia office and a remote work location. The in-office requirements (how many and which days per week) are set by the manager. Preferred Locations include the Mid-Atlantic region, Chevy Chase, MD, Philadelphia, PA, Dallas, TX, Columbus, OH
