What You'll Do As Director of Nursing, you will plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Nursing Department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, ensuring our Veterans receive the highest degree of quality care at all times. Key Responsibilities Include Plan, develop, implement, and direct the Nursing Department's programs and activities in accordance with applicable regulations and guidelinesDevelop, maintain, and periodically update policies and procedures governing day-to-day nursing operationsDevelop, implement, and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program; assist the QA&A Committee in correcting identified deficienciesDetermine staffing needs to meet residents' total nursing care requirements, and ensure CNA trainees are appropriately supervisedMake daily rounds to ensure nursing personnel are performing assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards, safety regulations, and infection control practicesParticipate in facility surveys and inspections, and serve on relevant facility committees (e.g., Infection Control, QA&A, Budget, Pharmaceutical) as appointed by the AdministratorParticipate in resident admission screenings (including PASARR) and advise the Administrator on the department's ability to meet resident nursing needsMonitor medication administration and treatment schedules for compliance with physician orders; provide direct nursing care as necessaryDevelop comprehensive resident care plans identifying needs, goals, and responsible professional servicesPrepare and manage the Nursing Department budget; submit to the Administrator for review and approvalReview and respond to resident complaints and grievances, documenting actions taken and ensuring fair, non-discriminatory disciplinary practicesAttend and participate in departmental meetings, in-service training, and continuing education to maintain licensure and stay current in the professionPerform other related duties as assigned Qualifications Nursing degree from an accredited nursing programCurrent, active, and unencumbered RN license in the state of practiceMinimum of three (3) years of nursing experience in a skilled nursing, long-term care, or other healthcare setting, including supervisory or leadership experienceStrong knowledge of federal and state regulations and standards of practice applicable to skilled nursing and long-term care facilitiesDemonstrated knowledge of clinical operations, resident care, infection prevention and control, and quality assurance/performance improvementSound clinical and administrative judgment, with the ability to make independent decisions within scope of the roleStrong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, staff, physicians, and regulatory agenciesExperience serving Veteran populations preferred Join a Mission That Matters When you join HMR Veterans Services, you're not just starting a job—you're becoming part of a team dedicated to serving those who have served our country.
