About the role
The selected candidate will be based at North Austin Medical Center and will provide operational leadership and oversight across North Austin Medical Center and St. David's Surgical Hospital.
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership to the cost centers within the Department of Nursing.
- Manages human, fiscal, and other resources, develops personnel, complies with regulatory and professional standards, and fosters collaborative relationships.
- Supports the nursing department in acquiring, analyzing, presenting, and synthesizing data for disease specific accreditation.
- Led, facilitates, and participates in all process improvement, quality, safety, patient care, and corporate initiatives.
- Serves as systems liaison and administrator for the Department of Nursing (Scheduling Excellence, PLUS, clinical dashboards, etc.)
- Utilizes innovative thinking and systems knowledge to collect, analyze, and present data that facilitates data-driven decision making.
- Serves as an educational and mentoring resource and enhances the team’s systems skill set.
- Participates in service line development and capital projects as directed.
- Supports clinical practice and operational efficiency through leadership, systems utilization, and team participation.
- Participates as member of the nursing leadership team in strategic planning and capital budgeting as directed.
- Formulates and distributes team communication regarding clinical and operational performance as directed.
- Serves as an organizational liaison to external customers as directed.
- Complies with Employee Health and Injury policy/protocol.
- Complies with all emergency codes, disaster protocols, infection control protocols, and safety protocols.
- Ensures staff attends required/mandatory in-services and that staff receives continuing education to remain current in their field.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree nursing program or current enrollment in an Alternative Entry MSN program; minimum of five years management position experience.
- Preferred: Master’s Degree.
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
- FT/PT/PRN colleagues with a compact license from a state other than Texas must: apply for Texas RN license within 60 days from hire obtain current TX RN license within 6 months of application for TX RN license
- BCLS certification as per SDH policy
- ACLs certification as per SDH policy
