About the role
Aspen Alcove at Bardstown is seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee the daily operations of the nursing department in our senior living community. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care to residents while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. The DON provides leadership and mentorship to the nursing team and serves as a key clinical resource, including on-call availability to address urgent situations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and implement nursing policies and procedures reflecting current standards of nursing practice, company policies, and all government regulations (state/federal).
- Manage and analyze processes, KPIs, and clinical data for optimal performance using LMA.
- Communicate and interpret policies and procedures to nursing staff, monitoring practices for effective implementation and achievement of results.
- Conduct assessments to determine the appropriate level of care for residents, as directed.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and application of Key Clinical Quality Indicators.
- Review the 24-hour report from every unit daily to ensure timely, effective responses to significant changes in condition, transfers, discharges, unexplained injuries, potential abuse or neglect, medication errors, loss of resident property, or any evidence of resident or family dissatisfaction, as directed by the DON or in their absence.
- Engage in healthy, frequent interactions with residents and their family members.
- Maintain up-to-date resident clinical data in the chosen EMR system (YARDI).
- Work independently, maintain confidentiality and professionalism, and demonstrate strong leadership.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse with a current state license in good standing.
- Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience in Assisted Living/Memory Care or healthcare.
- Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory/management experience with direct care staff.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple responsibilities.
- Enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and the ability to work independently.
- Practical interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and good decision-making abilities.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with residents and co-workers.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned.
Schedule
Full-time with a schedule of Sunday–Thursday or Tuesday–Saturday. On-call availability is required.
